So I found a 2013 Avalon hybrid limited with 90,000 miles at a relatively local dealer that had an advertised online at 14,000. I assume there is going to be a ton of fees on top of that but I figured I would go in and try and work my magic. I recently sold my 22 RAV4 hybrid SE for 1000 less than I paid for it a year ago. I have a '99 Avalon in the meantime that is mechanically sound but it's the small things that are adding up.
I took it for a drive and will need new tires soon. The weather stripping on the edges of the windshield is coming off and flapping which is very weird but not the biggest deal. It's at two owners and zero accidents according to Carfax, spent half its time in Washington state and half in Florida which is where I am. I'm a really big sucker for ventilated seats and it's about the cheapest way that I can get them.
After initially quoting me 17,500 for the car out the door I got them down to 15,300. It's been on a lot 54 days and they were pushing me to buy it today because they're closed tomorrow and the guy gets a weekend bonus but I didn't want to make a decision in 1 hour.
I'm currently a student and only make 2,000 a month until December. After that I should be making at least triple that. I have a long history of on time car payments and local credit Union quoted me 10% for 48 or 60 months. I have some money saved up and I was going to put $2,000 down and finance the rest. I know Avalon's are not the most desirable vehicles for a lot of people but I like them for their subtle luxury. Cops seem to be much higher but I know the market and interest rates are both going on the downhill most likely in the not too distant future. I know that's an assumption but sometimes you have to work with incomplete information.
So if you were in the market for an Avalon would you get on this deal?
