A conversation had the other day is leading me to consider a used minivan for my next purchase. I am married with a 9 yr old son and I commute 70 miles round trip for work each day. We routinely transport multiple rifle cases, guitars and football gear.
I would prefer a V6 over a 4 cylinder and while I would strongly prefer over 25mpg, I also don’t want to drive anything that’s underpowered. I would prefer bucket/captains chairs in the back. I don’t care about model year, I’m open to any brand and I’m willing to go anywhere in the US to buy the right vehicle and drive it to my home in the Midwest.
I understand all machines require maintenance but I’d really like a model that is known for reliability and longevity. I don’t want to constantly deal with a power door that quit working or replacing window motors or having goofy accessory things stop working. I’d also prefer a near bulletproof drivetrain and not worry about a transmission blowing up mid road trip. I have accepted that my days of being cool are over, I’ve handed in my players card, and I’m aware that none of these options are sexy.
Thank you for any suggestions or advice!
