My car uses the same types of bulbs for the indicators and the brakes, however, I’ve noticed my brake bulbs burning out significantly faster than my indicators.
Someone in an auto parts shop told me that it could be the bulbs are getting too much power since the car was designed for incandescent bulbs. They suggested I increase the resistance to the brakes so that LED bulbs don’t burn out as fast. But, I spoke with two auto shops that have advised against it (one on legal reasons and the other on wiring/cost issues).
If I were to increase the resistance to the brakes lights, would it solve my burnout issue? Or would it inevitably introduce more problems to the whole system? I prefer not to change brands but will do if push comes to shove.
(The brand of bulbs I’ve used have been SIR IUS and they have held up pretty well and lasted for a while for a non-enthusiast.)
