I'm looking at a used 2008 RAV4 with a mileage of about 93k miles/150.000 km. It looks and drives alright without any glaring issues but I know they've got a bad reputation for developing an excessive oil consumption problem and that there is an ongoing lawsuit over it. My question is if this problem is common enough and/or serious enough to be a deal breaker if the car is in an otherwise ok condition? It has the 2.0L petrol engine which I believe wasn't as problematic as the 2.4L one.
Also, I'm in a small country where there isn't a huge supply of used cars in good condition available (not a shortage though or anything like that) so finding a different RAV4 in the same condition and price range isn't a simple option.
