Can a therapist forcibly admit you to a mental hospital?
Post Body

I’m going to be parting ways with my therapist soon because not only is she not really helping but she’s even made jokes about my thoughts. But I’m afraid that because I’ve told her so much including that I’ve had suicidal thoughts frequently that she could put me away even for just 72 hours.

What specifically has to happen for a therapist to be able to legally do such a thing? What exactly would they do? Is it like tha movies where two big guys in white grab you and inject you with something to calm you? Or is it something more like two cops knocking and saying “hey man you gotta come with us”?

If I just knew that she can’t force me into a mental ward if feel more confident
