Given the large overlap in symptoms between autism, ADHD, GAD, and CPTSD/dissociative disorders, and probably others, how do theraplsts distinguish between them? Are there screening tests that can be reliably used to make a differential diagnosis?

If you search on youtube for X vs Y, where x and y are both chosen from the above list, there are a lot of overlaps in symptoms. On top of that, I've read on various support forums ehre on reddit about co-morbidity between these.

In medicine and in diagnosing faults in complex systems differential diagnoses (terms will vary with trade) are key to finding the issue.

Yet in psychology this doesn't seem to be a thing. I'm sure that in part the somewhat vague criteria are to blame.

So I ask the experts in the field here: How do you tell amoung at least the ones listed above, which one(s) a client has?
