Hi all! I was just accepted to Syracuse University's Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy program and I am very excited. As a New York native who has no plans to leave the state in at least the next 10 years minimum, this has been my dream school for a while now. I graduated a semester early with my BA in Psych and I want to be sure I am making the right decision for myself in terms of life itself; I am sure I want to pursue a helping/psychology career. I also have the goal to specialize in sex therapy after graduating to make myself more marketable as well as being passionate on the topic. I was hoping any of you had advise or information or answers or opinions on the following:
Is it limiting to pursue MFT over MSW or MHC or LPC?
Is Syracuse University a good school for this program?
What is the average student debt after an MFT program? How much debt is too much debt for this career path? (If comfortable and willing to share)
Does work/life balance exist?
What are your favorite parts? Least favorite parts?
How do you cope with the hard days?
Can a prospective LMFT feel confident they will make a comfortable salary? Average Salary? (If comfortable and willing to share)
Things you wish you knew before starting graduate school.
Would you do it again if you had to do your education over?
Any information regarding a certification in Sex Therapy.
Anything else that seems relevant or helpful! Thanks!! Feel free to message if you dont want to answer in the comments :)
