How Can I Combat this Cycle?
Post Body
I've been aware of this pattern fairly recently; and although being aware of it helps, it certainly hasn't stopped it. Here's the pattern in a little more detail:
- TIRED: I'm getting done with work, moving into hobby time (which is more like a second job, since it's my time devoted to my art). It's been a full day of work, and there's more to do (art, chores, help with dinner, etc.) and I'm f'ing tired.
- BUSY: As mentioned above. I'm already tired, but then have more things to do. Ironic bc with art, that is something that I GENUINELY love to do and it brings me joy, but regardless of how much I love it, it's still keeps me busy nonetheless.
- OVERWHELMED: Usually, what happens, is that I'll be creating, and my Partner will need me to do something, or we'll need to do something - all while I'm creating. BOOM. No matter how small the chore or question is - I'm like, WOAH - starting to get --
- ANXIETY: I begin to get anxious because I'm so overwhelmed, even though they're really all such trivial things. I'm creating and my Partner needs me to take the trash out? NBD, right? I'm marketing my art and my Partner asks me how to spell a certain word? No problem! Only, for some f'ing reason, it is!
- LASH OUT: The final, and worst step. Usually happens if I "make a face" to do something or answer half-assed, etc. The tension between us both starts to build... and then one last thing: BOOM! I get mad! Pissed! For no f'ing reason!
Happened just last night where my Partner asked me what time it is, and I responded "I HAVE A MEETING AT 'X' TIME, I'M GETTING READY FOR THE MEETING, WHAT TIME DO YOU THINK--"
Pretty nuts, right? And I genuinely love my Partner and would never do some shit like this; which makes sense, because it's NOT me - it's the anxiety, it's the tired/crankyness; the good ol' stereotype.
Has anyone else experienced this pattern? If so, how have you guys dealt with it?
