Why does a finite universe have to be fourth dimensional?
Post Body

From whatever I’ve seen or read on this, be it PBS space time or others, it is said that if you travel in a straight line in a finite universe you will eventually end up back at the origin. This is because if the universe is finite it is a certain fourth dimensional object. Why are these two concepts intertwined? Also, are there simple tests that can be done to see if the universe is fourth dimensional and thus rule out if it is finite?
