Any ideas what could have caused totality to look like an atom and the diamond ring to look like a ball pit?

Post Body

Neither of my computer doodles are exactly what I saw, I wasn't zeroing in on details since I thought what I was seeing must be on the spectrum of normal.

The total eclipse was absolutely stunning. It looked like an atom or celtic knot style jewelry surrounding a black orb. The lines were clear and geometic looking.

The diamond ring looked like someone glued a bunch of glowing tennis balls together.

Answers to FAQ:

  • I was wearing my prescription glasses the entire time and was not struggling with my vision or seeing anything unexpected during the partial eclipse.

  • I wore eclipse glasses during the partial eclipse and had them off during totality and the very brief diamond ring.

  • No drugs/psychedelics

Possible theories I've gotten so far:

  • I have a mild/moderate astigmatism and that was my inital thought. I've been googling, questioning, and posting my heart out and I'm hearing from all the astigmatism havers that saw they saw the expected corona.

  • Someone mentioned my totality doodle looked kind of like a magnetic field. I have no idea what to do with that.

I am super curious about what could have happened. I'd be grateful if you could even point me in the direction of where or who to ask.

Thank you! ❤️
