I've been suffering with major anxiety and Panic Disorder for 10 years now. Often accompanied by periods of deep depression and suicidal thoughts. Since I'm unemployed and quit school years ago (because of these issues), my sleeping pattern has been going to bed in the late hours of the night and waking up around noon or later. My psychiatrist always hammered on how important it is that I fix my sleeping pattern by going to bed at 11PM or midnight at the latest, and get out of bed by 9 AM or earlier. I always brushed it off and thought "Bullshit, sleep is sleep, as long as I get my 7-8hrs what does it matter when I get it?" But a week ago he told me "If you don't do it, you simply won't get better". I caved in and I'm doing it for 5 days now. And I do notice an improvement in mood, not in anxiety symptoms though. But why is this so important?
