I just removed/replaces a faucet on an old house that must have been here for at least 20 years. A bunch of stuff down here was rusted bad. But in doing so, I shut off the water on these valves, and then turned it back on when I was done. It seems like the new connections I added (the top to the faucet) are dry, but the piece around the valve itself is leaking.
Do I have to replace the whole valve? Can I just tighten the nut underneath the knob? Is this whole thing going to blow because it's so old? Someone help me please
Cut water off outside and replace. It's not difficult unless it's welded in place by buildup.
