I posted here a while back about issues I was having with my plumbing.
Essentially, when I would run a load of laundry and the washing machine would drain, the toilet was bubbling/having the water sucked out of it - and then would have problems flushing for a bit. It continued to that and then started to back up in the showers. It did this twice - once time, it seemed to spontaneously fix itself for about a month and then came back worse. At this time (and still today), I have one bathroom that has an open toilet flange due to the floor needing to be repaired. (I have something covering it, but there is nothing substantial and no toilet.)
I had a plumber come out. They put in a cleanout, tried to clear the block from the open flange (which we found had nastiness backing up into it as well), and then ended up pulling my one working toilet to get the clog. That was about two months ago. One time fairly quickly after that, I had the toilet bubble but never again until a few days ago. The toilet bubbled again when running a load of laundry. I did not realize that the open flange was being backed up into again until today, when I ran a second load of laundry and I thought to look at it.
I'm also fairly certain that I have a substantial leak somewhere. My water bill has doubled in the last two months and I had my Dad look yesterday under my house and he saw a lot of water pooling. AND ever since the plumber left, my hot water has smelled like sewer.
We are calling the plumber back next week, but I am curious if anyone has any idea what else is going on? Is the plumbing still clogged and did that cause the leak? Why does my water smell like sewer? Or did something get broken in the process of trying to get it fixed?
