I've searched through other posts on here about UPS units for plumbing items but they're all asking actual electrical questions. I'm not worried about the amperage of my units and the amperage my UPS can supply, so I think I'm still in the right place! Are there any code issues with plugging a combi boiler into a UPS? I know you don't know my specific location for the sake of code, but if it is possibly a violation, I'd love help finding the right place to find out.
It would be nice to supply heat and hot water during a power outage, but it looks like my boiler in the basement is plugged into an outlet that's controlled by an emergency shut off switch near the top of the stairs, and a UPS would have the boiler still running just fine even if I needed to shut that switch off for some reason. I'm not entirely sure why the switch is there, except that this house used to run an oil furnace. Thoughts?
