Wanted to switch from MR16 to GU10, can't find the transformer?

I wanted to switch this MR16 to the GU10 I have, therefore I bought the adapters in the second picture. But when I got the original one out, I couldn't find a transformer. What does it mean? Am I stuck with 12V and AC ? Or can I change it still? If so, where to plug.
Additional question: I found that the isolation is right there next to the cables (picture 3). Is that safe?
