Today I found myself being curious about biracial/multiracial identities in a specific way.
My question is about people whose grandparents were an interracial couple (on one or both sides I guess) but parents were not visibly interracial.
I have the impression that many people who have a black and a white parent simultaneously see themselves as biracial, but also often still get put in the 'black' category by society (I know it's complex and varies by individual).
I've heard some people say it's really important to them to be seen for their mixed heritage.
I wonder how someone whose mom and dad identify and/or are seen as black, but one (or both) of the parents are technically biracial, would see their self.
I know this must vary person to person, which is why I wanted to ask in a forum like this, where there can be a diversity of responses.
Thank you to anyone who is called to answer.
