Is there anyway I can go directly to a counsellor/psychologist/therapist without having to go through my family doctor?

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if I can go directly to a specialist for my mental health without having to go through my family doctor? I’m just not comfortable going to him cuz he’s a bit old school and also because my parents are friendly with the staff so there’s also a slight chance that they may slip up… I know patiently confidentiality and all but it’s also cultural so I sort of weirdly understand if it happens (and it has in the past). So yeah just want to avoid all that.
