Hello Toronto,
I got a call from a lady claiming to be from service Canada on Friday. I could not answer the phone so she left a voicemail and sent me an email. She called again today (Monday 12th July) and asked for the following details:
- Last 3 digits of SIN
- Full name spelled out
- Date of Birth
- Current employer's name
I had my guard down and gave her the info she asked for. In hindsight, that was probably not a good idea. She did not have any straight answers when I asked about the reason for the call, why she needed that information or the department she is calling from. I am worried that it may have been a fraud call. has anyone seen this email or recognize this email address by any chance?
Here is the email she sent me:
from: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Subject: Service Canada Request

Update:
Hi guys. Thanks for all your comments.
I got another email from the same email id. It seems to be a genuine email address. The new email has directions on how to file the EI reports. I even called and spoke with the EI team and they said they send these generic emails when someone applies for EI. So it seems to be genuine, but don't take my word for it. Be careful when sharing sensitive information
