Last Thursday, I posted about calling for a welfare check for my friend who was unresponsive. I canceled the welfare check cause... He's alive but it's not looking too good and I wish I hadnt... he's clearly wigged out. He ended up in the hospital due to aspiration and they intubated him. He's rapidly descending into Crack and fent addiction and its an absolute horror show. He has two cats which I'm not even sure if they're alive as he was gone in the hospital for a week. He's rambling about nonsense, can't put out a coherent thought and I fear for myself going down there (to try to help him)
Is there any organization in the community I can call without getting police involved again?
Can I call toronto public housing? Who can I call?
Either way, entrance into the building cannot be authorized unless a toronto public housing landlord is available to open the apartment. When I called 211, they said that crisis teams can only help if the individual voluntarily answers the phone/door. Correct me if I'm wrong? My friends phone doesn't work so all he needs to do is ignore the knock. Police on the other hand can and are legally allowed to enter.
So these individuals can only speak with someone who is willing. I think I need to involve police unfortunately
MAID is for the willing and those who are given informed consent. Drug psychosis would prevent informed consent.
I gave him a heads up that I was contacting community outreach, he told me to fuck off to put it simply.
The bad one. I don't want to be specific but its the worst area of toronto.
Okay thanks lol. Dunno if there is much purpose in deliberately making someone feel bad in a genuinely difficult situation...
So he's been home since Friday, told me the cats were "fine". I sent him an email last night giving him a heads up that I'm considering involving community outreach or something.... to be succinct, he told me "to fuck off and get off my high horse"
I don't feel like I am, especially now because I'm doubtful about whether or not I'll be calling authorities.
I'm hemming and hawwing over whether or not I should tbh
Without other commenters mentioning 211 I wouldn't have known about the service.

I called 211 and they cannot breach the premises. Because it's an apartment they also cannot get in. I will need to involve police tomorrow during operation hours. Last time I called the welfare check, they did not act or dispatch anyone and the operator said it was due to the accessibility of the apartment unfortunately.
