Coming home today on foot I noticed my car was parked significantly further back on the street than I had remembered. Turns out the Toronto Police Service relocated it and left this generic note on my dashboard:
“NOTICE OF RELOCATION Your Vehicle has been towed to this location by the Toronto Police Service. It was necessary to relocate your vehicle to clear the roadway for a Special Event/Snow Removal. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. CHIEF OF POLICE”
It’s August, so it clearly wasn’t snow. And it happened during a weekday, so it wasn’t a special event like a festival. I wonder if it may have been for tree maintenance, but I saw no signs of leaves or branches.
I received no email notice and while I had some missed calls, none appear to be from a city-affiliated number. What’s worse is that they moved it close to a fire hydrant, so I could have been dinged with a parking offence had I not noticed it earlier. Two luxury vehicles are now parked where my car was originally parked though 🤔
Had this happened to anyone before? And if so, were you notified? Or was there an easy way to determine what event necessitated the relocation?
