going to wonderland, questions about fastpass

I haven't been in like a decade, want to go this year when it's a bit warmer. I wanted to ask about the fastpass since we didn't have that back then.
How dramatically does it reduce the wait times, is it like 20% or more significant? What might the longest lines be with it? Are there any places where it wont work, such as in the water area?
Will the lines still be too long with it, would it be better to just go on a weekday?
