Work remotely for a Singaporean country with a SG work permit - are there any residency requirements?

Post Body

Hi all, hope you’re doing well today and apologize if this question has been asked before - I did a quick search and googled but I haven’t found any real answers.

I work remotely for a company that has an office in Singapore and I’m thinking of putting in a relocation request. Because I work remotely, I want to take advantage of the location and spend time doing long-term travel in the surrounding countries as I’m not sure when I’ll ever have that opportunity again. I know some countries require you to habitate x months out of the year to maintain your visa - does Singapore have any similar requirements? eg if I decide to do a multi-month trip in the region hopping around VN, TL etc, would I be jeopardizing my work visa, or does the country not care as long as I maintain my job and pay my taxes?

EDIT: Thanks all for the responses! I really appreciate it.

It's not the rate you need to be concerned with, it's whether or not you can claim the reliefs. As a non resident you can't claim. But as a foreigner the reliefs are pretty worthless unless you have kids.

After 40k earned inside of singapore, you are paying resident tax rates anyway. Depends on your salary if you can keep less than 40k earned in SG then yeah you may be losing out on a rate lower than 15%
