To put it plainly, we need more moderators to keep up with the size of the subreddit. We've been having to rely on the built-in spam filter to cut down on the spam accounts in here, but that has resulted in many legitimate posts being caught as well.

The primary duties of a moderator here fall into two categories:
1) Spam removal. There's a lot of bots stealing content and mass reposting them for karma farming, which we then need to remove. On the flip side, we also need to go through the spam filter and approve the posts by legitimate accounts that got blocked.
2) Removingtemp banning solo content posts. This is far and away the most common rules violation, and there is a process. The first violation (per moderator) is a 7 day temp ban, and you should add a tag to the account marking it for having posted solo content. If there is a second offense by an account you have tagged it becomes a permanent ban.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of consent practice, will be able to go through the queues about once a day, will exercise good discretion (for instance, shortening a ban if someone messages with a genuine understanding of their mistake), and will have a healthy life balance off of reddit (we've had an issue before with a moderator who did not have that and began to power trip). Most importantly, it will be someone who recognizes that any form of raceplay is a kink that needs thought and self-reflection to avoid enabling and creating space for genuine racism. Racists are not welcome here whatsoever, and it's important we make that clear any time they pop their heads up.
