Serious question about mothers/Father’s Day

My family moved to U.S when I was 3 and I have never celebrated mothers or Father’s Day. ATM even tho I’m so far from my parents we still talk almost every day. My wife on the other hand is thinking that it is barbaric for not doing any thing for those days, and honestly I I don’t feel that there should be only one day for your parents and should be treated with respect every day. Am I wrong here is this an Asian thing or is it just my family
