As I was putting together a list of candidates I intend to vote for, I had to do a lot of research, and I figured I would pass along some more links for specific races so that perhaps it's a little easier for folks to decide and vote. The last day of early voting is this Saturday, November 1st at 1:00pm, and then Election Day is next Tuesday, the 4th! For early voting, you can vote at any early voting polling station, but on election day you must vote at your designated location.
Candidate Endorsements that you may find handy.
Most of the races have a clear party affiliation, but the judicial races are "nonpartisan", so here are places you can look up general information or more specific information. I looked up the races from my sample ballot (found by entering my information into ncsbe.gov), so yours may look different.
Voting guide for judicial races This has basic information about the candidates in each race but since most of them pretty much say the same thing, I didn't find it particularly helpful.
Supreme Court Chief Justice:
Interestingly, a race between two Republicans?
NC Supreme Court Associate Judge:
NC Supreme Court Associate Judge:
NC Supreme Court Associate Judge:
NC Court of Appeals:
Here, you choose one of 19 candidates. General information can be found on pages 8-17 or you can visit their Judgepedia pages here, scroll down to "Court of Appeals, Martin seat, special election".
NC Court of Appeals Judge:
Note that one NC Court of Appeals Judge race looks funny on my ballot -- Donna Stroud is running unopposed, and she appears at the bottom of the first page of my ballot. On the second page, there is another NC Court of Appeals Judge race, so at first glance it looks like there are 3 candidates for one position, but Stroud is the only candidate for her seat and the other seat is contested between Holcombe and Davis.
NC Court of Appeals Judge:
NC District Court Judge District 28 (which presides over Buncombe County)
I tried looking up information on the Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, but I couldn't find much. There is some information on thevoterguide.org, and I'll leave it at that.
I hope this helps, now go out and vote!
