Our basement flooded during Helene and we knew our insurance wasn’t going to cover the damage so we filled a claim with FEMA about 4 days after the storm. We were told that we needed to wait until we submitted a denial letter from insurance before we could get an inspection. We got that denial letter toward the end of Oct and promptly submitted it to FEMA. Next thing you know, we receive a denial letter from FEMA stating that we were being denied because they were unable to complete an inspection because we did not reply to the inspector. Problem is no inspector ever reached out to us. I proceeded to visit the center where they told me an inspector called us 4 times, left two voicemails and texted. Problem is that we never received those calls, voicemails, or texts. I requested another inspection in person on Nov 3rd, and have gone back 3 more times asking for updates and requesting an inspection. I still have received a call and they can’t seem to figure out why. Not only have I not received a call, our case hasn’t even been assigned to an inspector again. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any advice on how to get an inspection done?
