Considering that Walmart, Walgreens, and Lowe's are now gone on Swannanoa River Road, we need to travel much further to get affordable groceries and home things. It stinks. What also stinks are all of the restaurants, breweries, and stores we frequented over in RAD. Basically everywhere we shopped or ate at or drank at is now gone. I guess our preference was for stuff that could flood. I'm sorry for the bad joke, but honestly this loss is devastating to so many folks. Summit was my jam. Wedge. Second Gear. Asaka. Regeneration Station. Carrier Park was where we took our pets on skate nights. French Broad was our running loop start and our dog park. I know the list is so much longer than this. I can't breathe thinking about losing all of these things. Everything we love is gone.
Logistically speaking, knowing when the first three stores will reopen is going to be so helpful. Knowing how/when the rest of these places will be rebuilt will help heal my heart. Has anyone heard anything about rebuilding plans for the businesses that were taken out?
