Tips from FEMA for your claims

Post Body
We stood in like for over 4 hours today and finally got to speak with someone in person. Here's what they told us. Hopefully it helps your claim
- FEMA will only help with repair costs of 1 vehicle per household, ONLY if all vehicles are undriveable and you didn't have comprehensive insurance.
- If you're in a roommate situation, you should both file individual claims
- Get a letter from a mechanic stating your car is damaged beyond repair, you can also go to the title agency and request something from them.
- If your renters insurance is doing an inspection, push them to do it sooner rather than later
- Provide lease and bill showing you live in the place you stated in your claim
- If you have already removed damaged property, write and upload a letter stating that it was removed due to health and safety concerns.
- Take and keep pictures of the damaged property
- Create and upload a detailed list of the damaged property that lists: property type, original value, current value (prior to flooding)
- Damaged property that was in a garage or shed will not be covered, however if your insurance denied all coverage, they can help.
- Upload coverage denial letters
I think that's about it.
Update:
If you uploaded a license, passport, or something else to identify you, it gets dark on their end, brighten the images a little before uploading them to prevent being denied due to a dark image. We had to redo that as well while we were there.
