today is my wonderful partner's birthday. since last night, i've been baking a cake perfectly tailored to their interests: chocolate cake with homemade raspberry filling, a homemade raspberry buttercream, and a chocolate ganache. i've been really struggling with finances recently because i just recently had covid and was made to take time off of work, so this paycheck was really small. i try to avoid using it, but i dipped into my EBT to procure the ingredients for this cake. things were going... not great, but as i was transporting this cake from the turntable to a plate to wipe it down when one of my cats decided to sprint in between my legs and... the cake got dropped, immediately smashing to the floor.

i'm devastated. i worked so hard on this thing. but what's more important than my ego and pride is my partner's special day. where can i find at least pre-baked cake bases or a simple cake that i could go behind and further decorate/assemble at an affordable price given my financial situation? i don't have any more buttercream, but i do have plenty of the raspberry filling left and could probably fancy a pre-baked cake up.

only contingencies are that my partner really does not care for whipped cream/topping and i need to be able to grab it and assemble it quick. they're at work so i have until about 5pm. thanks!
