Hello Asheville Redditors, 

After some discussion among the moderators, we have decided that, moving forward, we will remove posts like the “Trump Car” (this post was in the works before today's post about the car, it's not a direct response to that particular person). For the most part, the only purpose they serve is to rile people up and there have been instances of harassment against the owners of the vehicles. 

Another topic that has come up on the sub and the mod chat is the many posts about folks around town who are engaging the community in discussion about the Israel-Palestine conflict. We have approved most of these posts, but Reddit admins have removed at least one. We have removed and approved comments that have various levels of “personal information” that might meet the criteria for doxxing. Reddit has removed some things that we thought were OK. All of that to say that it’s hard to know exactly where the line is, and we disagree among ourselves and sometimes disagree with admins. In general, we will remove posts/comments that are harassing private citizens and this is at the moderator’s discretion. If you ever have concerns about personal information being shared on the sub, please report the comment; if needed, reach out to us via modmail. Also, be aware that typing a comment in a 200 comment thread that says “hey mods” is not the best way to get in touch with us or bring attention to an issue. 

Classifieds! It’s time to revive r/ashevilleclassifieds. It was created several years ago to redirect buy/sell posts, but there wasn’t enough traffic to have a separate sub. Now that we have 80k subscribers, it’s time to get it going again. Please post your buying and selling there, including ticket sales.

On a final note, please keep in mind that we volunteer to moderate the sub and cannot always respond to reports or modmails right away. We’re checking the mod queue on our lunch break and in between innings of our kids’ baseball games.
