Post Body

I had just driven to Mount Pisgah to hike at 11:55pm on Thursday, April 11th. I had driven up 276 from Brevard. I was facing Asheville, parked at the Buck Spring Gap. A maroon Toyota FJ Cruiser with a brush guard that covered the headlights pulled up on my left hand side at almost exactly midnight. The vehicle ran with its headlights on for about 6 minutes, facing in the same direction. It backed up, drove roughly 3 spaces to my right hand side and pulled nose in. At 12:05am, the driver exited the suv with a flashlight in their hand, came to my passenger side window and hit it twice against the glass. I exited the vehicle, and asked the driver what they were looking for. They were blonde, roughly 5’9”, wearing grey sweatpants and a black jacket. He said that he was looking for directions, because there were trees down on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the direction of Brevard. Every hair on my neck stood up.

I told the guy to return to the Blue Ridge Parkway, make a right and follow it to Brevard Road. He saw I was on the drivers side of the vehicle, said “Oh, there you are!”, raised his flashlight in to my eyes and took a couple steps towards the front of my car.

I had my EDC in my hand, which I was not shy of letting him see, and told him to return to his car. He left. I decided to skip my hike and return home.

If you see this vehicle while on the parkway in the evening, beware.
