Why is finding reliable, skilled, honest construction trades seem impossible in Asheville and WNC?

Anyone good has been booked out 2 years for a long time. Most of those advertising aren't working for good reasons. It's not like this in most other parts of the country. When I tell family in other places like CA, CO, AZ, FL, they can't believe it. If more trades people from out of the area knew about it, why wouldn't the come here? Why is it like this in NC?
