Landlord billing me 30+ days after move out?

Post Body

TLDR: How long to landlords(apartments if that makes a difference) have to try to bill me for any damages after I move out? We moved out January 15th and they re-signed a lease with a new tenant February 6th. I got a letter in the mail today from them basically saying they needed more time to review invoices from cleaning/repair companies after move out and would get to us soon about our security deposit refund. I don’t honestly care about my security deposit but I have a sneaking suspicion they’re going to nickel and dime me for more. Is there a time limit in NC in which they can try to bill me after move out?
