What is someone who does not see peers differently as they enter puberty?
Post Body

Trauma survivor CSA, CPA, CEN

I recently realized that as I entered puberty, I did not notice guys or gals any differently. I had a raft of shame about sex in general.

I also didn't notice other teens looking at me, something that other people tell me is not common.

Up to now, I figured that I was just the oblivious nerdy kid.

What keywords do I search for to find out more information on why/how I missed this step in development?

So is this typical ace behaviour or is it something else.

I saw both boys and girls in school as just people. In general boys had more interesting things to talk about, me being a science geek. I didn't see them as 'sexy' at all.

I didn't know what 'gay' was. (I graduated high school 1970) Gay was a general derogatory term for guys who had non-masculine interests.

I never went to a dance. Our school had the usual "Sadie hawkin's" style events wehre girls would ask boys. I wasn't asked.

I never learned how to flirt. I still can't reliably recognize flirting behaviour between others. AFAIK, no one has ever made a pass at me. This may be blindness on my part, or I radiate a "poison ivy" type Don't Touch Me field.
