Hello everyone, your friendly neighbourhood moderator here.

Our team is looking for applicants who would like to contribute to moderating the subreddit. Primarily this means reading and clearing the queue of recent reports / modmails.

If you've been around here a while you may know that we have a rather small moderation team given the size of our subreddit – as someone with experience of modding other subreddits I can tell you that the friendliness of our community means moderation here doesn't require nearly as much work as most subs. However, recent circumstances have meant our team has been less active than in the past, which is why we're looking for new mods.

If you would like to apply, simply leave a comment below, including any information you think will be relevant.

Be warned that being a moderator can at times be a thankless job – you are here to serve the community, not to lord over it. Most of your work will be invisible, you'll sometimes have to review troubling content (including graphic images and suicide), you will be shouted at by mean people in modmail, and no matter how much you do someone will always tell you you aren't working hard enough.

That said, the work we do does genuinely make a difference, and if you've got ideas for how you want to improve the subreddit (or even just want to implement the suggestions of others), then modding can be a really rewarding experience.

Anyway, here are some desirable traits a prospective moderator would have. (Feel free to apply regardless!)

  • Experience being a user of Reddit for a fair length of time.
  • A long-time participant or lurker of r/asexuality.
  • Modding experience would be ideal.
  • Automoderator (or CSS / regex) knowledge would be a bonus.
  • Able to spend at least some time on most days going through reports / modmails.
  • Living in a time-zone different to UTC 0 would be a bonus.

Feel free to ask questions about the role as well of course!
