Yes, I know. We're heathens. There's a good chance that most of those around you know, too. That's why I wanted to write this quick note.
Christmas is, in most of the West, based on a Christian holiday. And we're not Christians. However, the vast majority of us live in places where the Christian culture is the majority and the norm. Good portions of your own families are probably either Christian or firmly part of the culture that has come from 1000 years of Christianity. It's all around you.
I just wanted to remind people, especially those who are newer to this and thus often in a more rebellious stage of their path to heathenry that this is okay. This is not a time to make a big deal out of it. We have Jul, and you should celebrate it in your own way. However, don't think that means you can't have a great holiday today.
So go, be with your families that might be celebrating a Christian holiday, and ENJOY yourself. Have a good time of food and drink and kinship. The name, even the meaning isn't important. Myself, I'm about to go spend some time with some of my Christian folk, and it's gonna be great.
So as we're having a happy Jul, also have a merry Christmas and don't let religion ruin that!
