I'd like to see a change in this subreddit, for me personally I feel that we as a subreddit feel we are powerless and those that run the show don't care about us. Which may or may not be true. I'm not sure, but there HAS been a large amount of negativity. So I thought I would do what I do best and organize something.
I'm thinking about calling it Arrow Appreciation Day. A day where we use social media to tweet at the actors and tell them something we like or love about their character this season or the season before. In this way we can show we don't just HATE on the show. There are reasons we watch it, there are reasons that we enjoy it. If we as a subreddit were to voice that with a thousand tweets or Facebook posts about why we love something the logical conclusion would be that their would be more of it...right? Or am I being naivè.
What I would hope is that we can spread the word and not just this subreddit but other places as well. What I envision is us letting all of the cast, all the actors not just the main core. But even people that are sometimes on the show, I'm thinking we all would go to ARROWS full cast on IMDB and tweet at a few of our favorites telling them what you enjoyed about their character. Really this would take at most 30 minutes but it would be a huge and unexpected thing. Many characters haven't been on for awhile or have been killed. But still, having we as a fandom speak up and say To Colin Donnel who played Tommy Merlin, "your character has still impacted the show since season 1 for me" or something positive would be a Huge boost and would make MANY higher ups notice. At least I hope so.
What does the Arrow subreddit think of this? Do you agree or disagree? How can we make this happen. It's not just my voice that should be heard but all of ours. Shouting in unison! What can we do /r/Arrow? Let's figure it out and then we can post another Subreddit post that actually details what we will do to make a positive difference for the Arrow show.
Edit: I would also like to ask that we as a subreddit STOP CARING about Tumblr, we have said what we all think of them a thousand times, and really we're just circlejerking it to death. We need to focus on being positive, a place where we share ideas, and understand that not all ideas are good but not all ideas are bad. We as a subreddit have this herd mentality of downvoting to hell someone just because they have a different thought then what we as a herd have agreed to. Stop the "No you're wrong I wont listen to you." Because that is exactly what is happening on their side to us. We have to be better. We have to be positive or else, this show is done. We have this summer to do our best and get this show on the right track or else this show will never be what we wanted it to be. I do not want that.
This is also coming from a guy who hasn't watched the show for about a month. So please, be positive, don't antagonize, ignore the negativity and as one of the few good lines from the show this season. Fight the darkness in the light!
