Took me a bit to figure out that Iām just not into romance like society expects, and honestly, itās been one of the most liberating discoveries of my life.
Once I dropped the idea that I needed romance to feel complete, I found my real passion: menās work. Iāve been building deep, platonic connections with other guysāconnections that are genuine and supportive, without the toxic masculinity BS weāre usually fed. Through menās work, whether itās support groups, outdoor adventures, or just real conversations, Iāve found a brotherhood thatās way more fulfilling than any romantic relationship ever could be.
And if you donāt identify as male, there are similar options for everyone. For me, itās about coming together, breaking down barriers, and supporting each other in a way thatās authentic, vulnerable and safely accommodates my aromanticism.
Embracing my aromantic identity has allowed me to focus on what really mattersāmeaningful, platonic bonds with other men. Itās been a total game-changer, and I wouldnāt trade it for anything.
Iām curious to know what deliberate attempts at community youāve made and how theyāve turned out. I wouldnāt say Iāve found my ācommunity for lifeā yet, but Iāve had a lot of fun getting to know people in a non-romantic way.
