Confused about love

Post Body

Hi all, i just found this subreddit and think maybe you can help?

I’m a 25yo guy and never been in a relationship. I’ve had crushes in highschool but never felt anything for someone. Usually it’s like a physical attraction that i have towards someone but i don’t know what it means to feel romantic love.

Every girl i’ve tried dating only lasted a few dates because there was ‘no romantic connection’. It always felt like i was just friends with them though and it was strange to kiss or hold hands with a date because i always felt awkward doing it. Kissing isn’t a turn off but i never felt anything from it, hugging almost feels more like love to me?

Now i’m still a virgin and i’ve been waiting for a connection with someone before having sex. I have a high sex drive and am not asexual but now i’m starting to feel pretty touch-starved.

The closest thing i have felt to love is towards a friend who is also in the same position as me and thinks she is aromantic and doesn’t feel anything towards me - so i think it’s just platonic love but i’m unsure.

I don’t know what to do at this point, i’m just confused because i’ve never felt loved by someone and never felt love for someone other than friends and family.

How would you describe love as an aromantic person? And how would that differ to a non-aromantic person?
