Because I recently saw a recruiter flyer:
Folks - there are all types of opportunities in the Army people will not tell you about. I would have never known about the route I went, if I wasn’t exposed to it in Iraq..
Regardless of MOS - you can apply for SFOD-D. There was a Cook and a Band guy with their identifier.
If you don’t want to go all in, there are still support jobs that need filling. There is a whole squadron of force sustainers.
There are other SMUs out there you can apply to. Same thing, either get your credentials or be support.
Females- this applies to you. There are females in just about place in USASOC, and have been for a while.
Fellowships - there are fellowship opportunities out there for enlisted. Pull the catalog down from HRC and find what fits you.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you no. Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t do it.
The worse thing you can be told is “ thank you for your time, you’re not what we are looking for..”
If you aren’t told that, keep trying. I know guys that did RASP three times. I know a guy in a squadron that tried out four times.
The absolute worse thing that can happen is don’t make it, but if you really tried, you made yourself better. And, not just a better Soldier, a better person. There is an unmeasurable amount of confidence in knowing exactly where your limits are, because you know you pushed them…
