Buy a home or rent?

Active duty E5 Household of 6.
Should i buy a home in/around Honolulu, Hawaii or rent? This is my first time having a choice to live off post. Iv heard people say buy early in career and rent/BnB the property out after PCS but im not sure how successful that has been for others in Hawaii. I don’t want a financial burden on my family.
