So we have a soldier in PLT that is failing ht/wt. Command team has decided to give him another chance in passing/making progress in the next one. The soldier wants to get out because he says being a single soldier in the barracks is difficult and he doesn't think he's cut out for the military on top of failing ht/wt. Also he is worried about his family and sends money back home. I told him to think aboit his plan and talk to other soldiers on the issue, recommended him to talk to Command team and the Chaplin. I also told him that I would personally work with him on his weight loss program and go with him to Nutritionists again to make sure he actually gets the help he needs. (I didn't get to work with him the first time because I was on leave.) He's actually really good at his current MOS and can have a bright future.
I'm asking if there is anything else I could of recommended or said on this issue? Should I just respect his decision and let him go through with it? I'm just trying to make sure he's making a good decision and not going to regret anything.
I'll just take a large hot coffee with some cream and pinks, and smoke a ciggy.
Yeah, I'm in agreement. Like honestly myself I don't think I wanna do AD for the last 10 years. I'm considering the guard option because it gets me closer to my family and my wife's family (she's on the same boat, but she's AF). We want to do full-time guard if that's available. I'll even be fine with part-time.
So you want me to help him by not helping him at all?
I didn't even realize that there were an abundance til you said it.
That's not being a leader that's being a boss. 😂
Thank you all for the great advice it actually helped somewhat, he still is set on his ways but I told him to sleep on it and talk to more people.
