Hi, I apologize if this is an unwanted post, but I'd like to share that after 6 months and 28 days, I finally got the Department of Child and Family Services to sign the consent form so I, 17mtf, can try to enlist! That was about 209 days, which was about 627 phone calls made in order to get here. Still a long journey ahead of me, but still a big step! I can't wait to see if I can carry my family's legacy of service!
Edit: For those confused, I'm a transgender woman, hence MTF, or male-to-female. I know gender dysphoria is technically disqualifying, but I'm in the process of acquiring a waiver. Let's be honest, there is something most people have not told or have been told to not tell to MEPS. This is my "hush-hush" thing that may cause a bit of a problem, but all that matters is that I am making an effort, fighting system after system to join a branch that helped mold me into who I am. If the army denies me, oh well. If they accept me, HOOAH.
