Current 68X, love my job but the civilian application and career progression isn’t there. Points are usually maxed out as well as no bonus. Civilian side pays around 40k avg from what I’ve seen however there are plenty of programs to become a social worker in the army or a PA. QOL is currently amazing even at FT Johnson. Individual PT, amazing leadership environment and go to the field for a few days twice a year.
35T is a huge interest for me as well though. Love working with computers and troubleshooting issues for people when I get the chance. The points are “okay” but not as bad as 68X and there’s a decent bonus. The civilian application is also leagues higher than 68X from my understanding. However if I reclass I won’t have station of choice and that’s something to factor as well.
My brain says to be a 35T for the job opportunities after the army but my heart says to continue being a 68X and continue helping people daily. Really struggling with the decision right now and wanted some additional input.
Tl;Dr: Be safe and stay a 68X or reclass to 35T?
