Finally got my copy of HV yesterday. I only played the first prelude and then 1 scenario (The Thing in the Depths) but damn was that scenario a absolute banger.
The prelude was really cool as well, not sure how good they will be on replays, but I love that the story section takes place in game. The text playing through the prelude is probably as long as EotE and TSK, but when you are actually playing through the story it makes it feel SOOO much better. It feels like you have agency over the story, rather then just reading a huge text dump. But so far I loved the idea of playing through a pure story section, with no encounter deck/enemies. Also Zorzi's ability was REALLY good in the prelude
Also it was really cool how many different ways you could play the scenario I played (Thing in the Depths) That scenario had so many dynamic elements, and very different resolutions. It didn't feel like it was just the Best, good, bad, worst, resolutions, depending on how well you did. It felt like thier was 3 different ways I could have played the scenario to get one of 3 different resolutions.
And this was only playing it during the day. Looking at all the different effects if I played during the night it would have been a totally different experience. Also it was clear that it would have also changed a bit playing it on a different day. The replayability seemed really high on that scenario.
Also, damn Zorzi was fun and hilarious to play. I beguiled a plant, and then had that plant evade the huge boss enemy in that scenario every single turn. The idea of my charmed flower walking up to a huge monster and just like, idk, enchanting it with it's beauty for the entire scenario (the monster only has 1 evade) is hilarious to me. That monster really likes pretty flowers.
