advice for keeping combos going?

I managed to hit a 40 combo a couple of times, but switching from the older batman arkham games to the "newer" one. It seems a bit harder to keep the combo going.

In arkham asylum/city you could hit b with your batcape or use your grappling hook to capture a goon and it would keep the combo going, and it was way easier back then to keep it consistent.

Seems like with the 2015 game, its a lot harder. Any advice? I'm almost about to 100% arkham asylum/city, I'm currently working on some of the riddler challenges in arkham knight in the mean time. Any advice?
