When I play I always check what kind of damage the enemy team is doing and adjust my build for it. I was playing Arum against a team with 3 opponents doing magic. With extra magic defense I was practically God Mode. If I find myself to squishy late game it’s probably because I don’t have enough of a certain defense and I adjust accordingly, but I never se anybody else do this.
I realize trying to memorize all the items is hard, but just being able to understand that if you’re a tank and you’re getting melted by mages, maybe you should get some magic defense.
It’s simple things, since both ADCs and Assassins don’t build much if any armor (Which they shouldn’t since they are glass cannons) you can change weapons. And like stated previously, you can sell your boots for another weapon (Most late game weapons already have the passive that the boots have and IFAK they don’t stack). You can always grab a curse of death or tome of the reaper if you see somebody relying on life steal or healing. I also see a lot of builds with blades of eternity, but you only get 2 revives per game. If you have revived twice then it is time to sell and pick up something better because keeping it for 120 def is not very useful.

Too many times do I see people sleeping one the tier 2 items like mail of pain, as a tank you can just sit there and watch an ADC pain their own health. I also see people not running support items. Marksmen not using bow of slaughter. I also see a lot of people sleep on any talent other than punish and heal. Heal is nice, but getting out of CC and being immune to it for 1.5sec is pretty legendary. Also unique passives do not stack, so Enchanted kicks Spooky mask does not give 150 magic pierce.
I’ve played 30 min games where both teams were at a stalemate until I switched up my build so I could outlast the enemy in a team fight.
TLDR: If you see a Zill, Arum, and any other mage, you should probably thing about some magic defense. If you see 2 ADCs, maybe get mail of pain. And last but definitely not least, If you died twice with blades of resurrection, sell it and get something else.
