Getting carried is a skill
Post Body

You won't carry every game, sometimes you're simply up against someone who for some reason has your number and you have no chance whatsoever in lane.

However, that doesn't mean it's now up to chance whether or not you win the game. It depends of your role of course, but once you're behind (or simply not fed) you need to be aware of a couple of things.

  • First, your own character's weaknesses, they're now dialed up to 11. Keep the deaths at a minimum;
  • Second, the enemy's strengths. What characters are fed or simply more ahead than you? Be aware of that in teamfights and setups;
  • Third, your own team's daily calorie intake. You will have to play around them, and each character and role carries in a different way. A fed Arum will need a different kind of support from you than a fed Butterfly;

*Fourth, the overall threat level. Aka, if they take Dark Slayer, will they win the game right away? This will determine where you'll be to provide vision;

A point that's hard to put in just one sentence is to be aware of ambushes. A fed Alistair will hide in the middle bush a lot for a full combo kill. A fed wukong will hide in your jungler's bush to kill him taking a buff for example. If you know where they could be, you will reduce the amount of deaths you'll have and sometimes even get a kill since you're a smart boi and are waiting on your team. Avoid the places where they could hide if you are alone.

If you are aware of what your team needs of you, you will win games. Sometimes that doesn't mean kills especially if you are behind as a jungler or solo laner. Setup kills for your fed teammates, provide vision, hell even be bait if that's what's needed. Your job is now the job no one wants to do. That job depends on the team and current situation and is impossible to put into a prewritten set of rules you'll need to follow.

Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer as some of you might know. You'll see that the enemy team will get overconfident if they have had a good early game. Challenge objectives to slow them down, allowing your team to catch up. Or take the objectives because the enemy team is too busy chasing/jungling, this will accelerate the equalization.

Experience is the best teacher. Be aware of why you're losing which is never "I lost lane 0-3" but rather "I lost lane 0-3 and played like I hadn't".

It ain't over till the fat lady sings. Or when you have 2 stubborn junglers flaming each other in the pregame lobby. With champions they never played on. In ranked.
