Monitor wav file, take action at end.

Curious if I can do this. Let’s say I have a button I press and, when pressed, the Arduino plays a wav file from an SD card shield. This would be a one time playback, not a loop. Can the Arduino monitor playback and know when it’s done? Something like:
Press button Play file Stop Light LED Wait for button press
When I played with it, it seemed to only know playback was initiated and nothing more.
