Audio "lags" as the song progresses.

The first few notes of every single song are perfectly on sync with the audio at 20ms, but by 1 minute the audio is half a second behind the notes which makes it complicated to play.
Has anyone encountered this before? is there any fix?
Any help is appreciated, I'm using a Redmi Note 7 with a custom OS so ram is not the issue here.
